hello everybody and welcome to our current Workshop here tonight for Fillmore Unified School District my name is Kelsey Weese and I am a part of our Educational Services team here at Fillmore unified are really really excited to speak to you tonight call a brand new tool that we have available to our students at absolutely no cost to the students the cost is all covered by our district is called tutor.com and I think you're absolutely going to love what it has to offer just want to welcome you and thank you for being here and point out that if you are looking for a Spanish translation tonight there's currently a link up on the screen that will take you to the Spanish session of our presentation tonight and with that I'd like to introduce our expert mascara Hall who's here to speak to you all about the wonderful things to do. Cam has to offer hello and thank Q Kelsey my name is Carol Hall and I am the senior director of Client Services here at tutor. Call him and what that means is that my team and I work with our district Partners to bring a trailer.com the district has worked very hard and gotten a lot of the paperwork in place and all of the things that needs to happen to make it possible to provide this service for your students so purpose of meeting here tonight is to tell all of you about 2.com all the wonderful things that this service has to offer for students that may be having some challenges getting homework done I need a little bit of help when it's you know 9 at night and our teachers are not nearby and and they're you know they're asking questions of the parents saying you know how can I get help with this work that I'm working on how can I get help with these math problems that I'm doing how can I get help with this history project that oh by the way is due tomorrow and how can I get help with my writing that I'm trying to do Mom can you read this my dad can you can you help me with this math so we are a resource for students that are in that situation of families that are in that situation so we're going to talk tonight about what to do, Miz and how your students get access to it and and Withings how it works and all the things that students can get help with so thank you our group size is growing a little bit so it looks like people are still coming on but we're going to go ahead and get started with that with everything and Chelsea are you okay if I go ahead and take the screen yes ma'am I'm just going to cut my slides down for you a s s a s to update here I'm all the way in Nashville Tennessee tonight so thank goodness for the internet all right so you should be able to see my screen so here's where we are, I looked on your District website and I saw that you couldn't do anything on the district website without getting a notification about this so I know that the word huh spread far and wide and we're so thankful for that for that partnership so I'm going to switch over to slides to show you a little bit more up and more information and let's start a fight so what I'm showing on the screen right now is a quote that we get from a survey that students can fill out after every session when I talk about a tutoring session I mean a 121 session with at one of our subject matter expert tutors and our online classroom so the idea behind, is that students are working on homework or working on an assignment at home and are at really you know having a question about something needing some help struggling with a certain part of it maybe they didn't take good notes or they don't remember such a piece of what they thought they had firmly from class, and that's where 22.com can be plugged in as a resource to help so I say lots of things in the post session survey and they give us lots of feedback and so this is just an example of one of those types of comments from 11th grade student who was taking a you-know-what advanced math course and said that you know because of the support they received from tutor.com they felt supported to follow through and take an AP Calculus class next year they thought the recession was a 10/10 that made my day and we'll be taking that course next year said that kite type of enthusiasm and confidence is something that we look forward to generating and students all over the country that we serviced, so we thank you that district is eligible to receive that kind of help and support and we look forward to engaging with your students and having them try the service and and use it one time and what's the I think would say use it once they're going to want to use it and again and again to get help from our tutors so find your chat box get ready to maybe so why some of the answers to the questions so be thinking about what are some of the homework challenges that you see with your children in your house when it comes to getting assignments done studying for tests Getting Papers proof read things are working on when they're working and they're not at school with their teachers what are some of the challenges you see your students face they are your children facing we're going to talk about our educational values how it works just show you how to start a session weather tutors and then we'll have time for wrap up at the end and plenty of time for questions so all right so 219 at 98 we've served more than 20 million actually 21 million 21 million sessions to date and that's that live one to one engagement between a tutor and a student has done that over 21 million times in our company's history and my slide there cuz we keep serving sessions the demands sent I started the demand for twoo.com has increased even more students find themselves less and less FaceTime with their teachers sometimes and more and more time at home during covid. Usage of tutor.com you know just is increased quite a bit so we have over 4,000 active shooters that work for us so that's a lot of that's a lot of Shooters and they are available around the clock and the reason why need a lot of tutors is because we serve a lot of subjects for students we have a lot of demand for the help and we we serve students 24 hours a day 7 days a week in English and in Spanish so students that are comfortable getting to and English are getting help from a tutor that speaks English can get help from a few English and two seasons that are more comfortable getting help from a tutor that speak Spanish can get help from the two that speak Spanish 24 hours a day 7 days a week and we've currently partner with more than a 250 K-12 schools and programs that serve K-12 students through grants and funding across the country all right so what is tutor.com access what does that mean for a Fillmore unified students like yours okay dot-com is available 24/7 reset that already it's access to subject matter expert tutors who are vetted in a safe and secure online classroom where all the sessions are recorded and available for review and it is on demand help that is so powerful and so important because I know from being a mom myself you know homework time in my own house sometimes you know can get pretty hairy and I have a you know kids at varying ages and and I I remember the times when like my son for example when he I remember very vividly one day he was in sixth grade and he had a science quiz the next day was a Sunday afternoon and I was is he doing my mom thing I was cooking I think boldness of laundry at the same time and busy doing my stuff and and he's studying for his quiz and he says mom what's the difference between intrusive and extrusive igneous rock stopped and I thoughts and I thought you know what I was going to have to read his textbook cuz I didn't know the answer right off the top of my head so I was going to have to read the textbook I was going to have to hope I understood what the textbook was saying hope that I explain it to him in the way that he needed to hear it so that he could understand it and hope I was right about the whole thing and I said instead honey why don't you go have a tu.com session and go talk to her and we got lots of people at tutor.com it will help you with just that very question so we did and I heard him a log on but he's on his laptop and he logged on and I heard him from the other rooms day oh oh oh now I get it and he was able to get understanding of intrusive and extrusive igneous rock in a very short. Of time I think it was about 20 minutes and he was prepared to be successful and he got an A on his quiz the next day so that's just one of many times that I pointed my my children in the direction of this whisker it was great results so apparent as well I work 4 to 2, and I work for twoo.com forever but I'm a parent as well and I've seen the service benefit my own children I know that sometimes my own children have homework challenges and so let's think about one of those things while we're looking at this information here let's think about what this challenges are sometimes we don't know the subject matter has I I bought it when I have a chance to talk to just about to turn, I always ask them has anyone ever heard of parents say they don't teach math like they used to when I was in school and the kids all laugh and they raise their hand is that my mom says it all the time it is so true they don't teach math like they did when I was in school. the ones that help with math and sometimes my mom right so I heard that parent-child Dynamic that sometimes gets a little challenging when it comes to work being done on time so I would like for you to act like to pose a question to you all tonight if you can find your chat box and get ready to type in so think about some of the challenges you see you're at your children facing at your house when it comes time to get homework done and maybe type some of those into the chat box what are some of the homework challenges you see I see we're typing so that's good Kelsey says yet I don't know this well enough to help that's right yeah that can be a definite challenge I didn't do well in chemistry I have to say when I was in high school I ended up in a advanced chemistry class and I don't have any idea how I did it up in that class but we do when my son was going for chemistry I was not the one to help him on my County I'm so sorry I thought I do not do chemistry very well so I could likely put him in the direction of us as the books you can help him at 2 today, but that was not me parents not understanding the vocabulary words for the topic or the way it was explained in the classroom absolutely we weren't there where we met you know where. We look to follow our Little Darlings around all day we're not there with them during class and so we're not hearing what their teacher saying and so sometimes it's hard to know how to help because you don't know how the teacher was explaining it in the first place yeah or maybe not understanding the terminology that's you so there's some definite challenges with that when it comes to we do Mom Dad can you help me yes absolutely all right so maybe this maybe the another idea is maybe the student was you know absent that day or didn't retain everything that was taught in class or didn't take great notes or you know just just some challenges right and so I thinking about the challenges that we face with homework helps us really decide how best to plug into. Cam is a resource and how to refer students to it and how to bring our children to the the F USD portal for for clever access so they can get access to 22.com and bring them there make sure that they know how to log into that portal to get access to the service and bring them to tutor.com for this kind of help whenever you get to the questions all right so I just I think we have a parent with a hand up that maybe had enough sorry I didn't see that okay sorry having issues with my chop box that's why I waste my head and he still challenging with reading comprehension and that's one of the major things that I'm interested to see if you guys have to offer some help for him we absolutely do offer tutors that help with reading comprehension absolute yep that we have let's do it let's go over to that now. look at some of the subjects that we offer there's lots of them are too busy to fit on one side but I tried to do my best So within the elementary great so there's a really easy way to pursue this to come if they're in grades K through five we try to make it as easy as possible so the first thing they're going to see in the topic menu is something that says Elementary K through five grades K through five when they click on that the subject menu that appears is just like the suit would see it in their their school or how they would refer to it in their school so they're going to see Matt they're going to see science social studies reading vocabulary and we also have English language Learners reader so if there is that is an English language learner needs help with reading comprehension we have to dress that can help with those types of questions as well we do offer the students the option of having a type chatting instant messaging communication with shooter or they could do a speaking and listening communication via voice there's no video or online classroom but there is the opportunity for the students to speak to the tutor which is really helpful for younger students and helpful for students who needs to practicing with reading or practicing with the foreign language or practicing with reading comprehension because they could actually speak and listen to the tutor during that session all right so we offer Elementary science elementary math as well as all the way up through statistics and quantitative Literacy for our older students we have lots of subjects of science subjects of English and writing including an essay drop off option for students social studies history and some introductory social sciences for the older students those e l l Reading Writing and speaking tutors that I was mentioning before and then we also offer that your rock en espanol service for students that are more comfy being tutored in Spanish bilingual subject matter expert shooter we offer some introductory business subjects and computer software subjects and foreign language students taking a foreign language class like Spanish French German or Italian class that can get help from tuna.com Shooters we also offer some study skills coaching so tutors can help students with things like how to take notes and how to get organized and how to manage. how to reduce stress in those types of subjects as well as the academic subjects that students need help with all we have lots and lots of your if your child is in advanced placement classes we have lots and lots of advanced text you that we can do it on the side but their there are a lot of them there and then you available for students alright so let's talk about I went too far forward all of our sessions are kind of structured in a very similar way in the way that the shooter in the student interact so there's no personal information ever shared it's a relatively Anonymous connection between the tutor and the student ones who won but but the tutors are going to conduct the sessions in a very similar fashion and that they're not going to do the work for the students the tutor will guide the student will provide examples will provide that bit of instruction once they reach the part of the process that has the students and they're going to provide help in that way but they're not they do the work for the student so the student will be doing the work and the tutor will be there to support the student throughout the session it's going to be individualized so there's only one shooter and one student in the online class at a time all of the sessions are recorded and a fillable again in the tutor., count as their previous sessions so the students can see them again if they want to study from them again or see a resource that was shared they can you know obviously get in there and end is sito's can replay them if they'd like to end and get you know the information back out of them again it's going to be just in time so it's on demand we try to keep the weight for students as short as we possibly can so we know that by the time has come to twitter.com they're going to be maybe stuck maybe frustrated and in need of some help right then so once the student lets us know what they need to work on so that we can match them to the correct tutor in our online classroom we try to keep that weight to connection SS short as possible as possible it's interactive so we have an online class and that allows for file sharing and there's a two-way interactive whiteboard and lots of collaboration tool oh that can be used as needed during each and every session that we deliver that we call it Art multimodal Online classroom supportive so the the service is going to come along in line with what the students are already working on from their classes so it's we're not putting it we're not adding an extra curriculum we're not adding any extra work aren't Hooters are there to support students with the work that they're already doing from there after USD classes all right so Shooters are going to help the students be really successful with their work by making it all about the student what goes on in the session so things to things to mention to students when you're talking about tutor.com or I have some examples here on this rain here of things that we keep in mind and you can keep in mind when you're talkin about 2.com to your children is that either one of them know that the tutors are going to instruct based on what you know and what you need to know they can slow it down for you they can speed it up for you they're going to match whatever Pace that you need a good handy tip is to have notes or examples ready to share with the tutor if they don't have to have a particular problem they can just Noah hey I need to know why I need to work on where commas go in a sentence or I need to work on polynomial functions or you know I need help checking my math homework right those are things that students can bring to a session is types of things it's great to have specific problems if that's available but if not just giving the two-door a general direction of what the student needs to work on is really helpful for your younger you're going to want to make sure that they're not keyboarding independently yet you're going to make sure that you're sitting there with them while they're using tutor.com so that you can ask us that keyboard expert there and the student can still get the benefit of the service but you know the parent or a Taurus when there is it is able to do that help the student along through that on my classroom like disappoint student save they sometimes want to come in Google the answer to their problem and have it show up for the magically but that's not the way we work at cedar.com we working what we feel is the best most effective way for getting students grades improved and confidence improved and getting them set up the support. actually do the learning we're not just going to give them the answers in fact that you just will never do two things during a 22.com session one is that they will never share any personal information with the suit and the other one is that they will never just give the student the answer to their Pro so cheaters are going to be able to approach the problem in multiple ways there's lots of tools and the online classroom that allow for that collaboration only be used as needed you don't need an appointment law in anytime right login 24/7 that's why the district is providing the service around the clock so no matter when when the student is working on their work whether it's afternoons evenings sometimes nights for older students weekends the service there to support them and also realizing that the tutors are encouraging and patient by talk to kids about, I say our tutors are folks that like helping kids with homework so much that they wanted a job doing it I'm in there really willing to help and they're they're there to help you so don't think that your Twitter question is too dumb to ask anybody I don't have to ask him in front of your friends you could ask it to your tutor and that scooter is not going to think that question is dummy. we're going to be helping you along just the same as a judgement free zone all right so it's going to help you know what the students can really very and I'm sure you've seen this even if your students have only been in school a little while there are subjects that are more challenging for some students in west Dallas challenging for others and it just depends on the individual and even students that have straight A's or going to have questions sometimes and so tender. Cam can be used to improve your grades but it can also be used to keep your grades great by being there to support whenever the student has a question is a variety of skill levels represented for students you know day today even though my moment sometimes students are better in certain subjects than they are another said that's okay all right so who are the tutors that are working with students Te'o are there at least college sophomores they can be grad students teachers Professionals in the industry they are they could be professors it could be any number of evokes at least College sophomore at but they are going to be United by the fact that they are first and foremost subject matter experts in whatever subjects that their tutoring in so we're going to test them and you can see the major points in our onboarding process for new to those are out there on the slide for you but only about one and two 2% of any applicants that we get in a given year are going to make it through this process and start tutoring students at the other end of this onboarding process because you can see are subject exams are very rigorous only about 7% of our applicants even passed those and move on to the next step we are connecting those folks with a quality control team we are performing background checks federal state and local criminal history were also verify the educational credential they possibly lie to us they're giving their given lots and lots of professional development for more quality control team I like to think of those folks as mentors for our tutors because they really support them and then what's the tutor is through that onboarding process Ashley tutoring with students their part of this continuous quality control Loop that you see on the side in front of you that our tutoring sessions are getting feedback from the students there going to be automated reviews of the session so there's two Knology that's for giving sessions and we also have a manual by that quality control team reviews of those sessions there's an evaluation that's prepared for the shooter and given to the tutor and that feedback cycle continues throughout so our tutors are you know able to schedule their time the way that they want to spend their time working with students and so that's what makes the whole thing kind of go is that we provide really high quality platform really high quality wedding of our tutors and ongoing quality control to ensure that quality stays High throughout all of our sessions all right so when's the students come over from the the portal they're going to it from the clever portal they're going to they're going to go into this dashboard before I do that I actually reminded myself here I have a document to share with you that's shows exact the steps that the students can go through in order to connect to the tutor so they're going to come into the FUSD clever portal login here a lake is right there on the left hand side of your screen that first like number one and then they're going to log on with the email address and login using the F USD Microsoft email address and password that's provided by the district this is the same email and password students used to log onto teams that gives you a picture of what it looks like and then once logged in select a cheater. Come tile that looks like this picture shown below the tutor.com an orange there and then you have to wait just a little bit because clever is talking to your dog, that for me so it's just a second for that information to be sent over and then it's going to be automatically turning the username and password for the student so they don't have to relog into cheater.com at that point and then subject and grade level and then click click connect once we hit a step for here in the process you're the students going to be redirected over to twitter.com just give it a minute and then once you are there you'll see what I like this one I figure they're okay so if you don't mind I just wanted to note for our parents that are joined us tonight in our family members that are here that I put a link to the document with the log on instructions that you just shared on your screen in our meeting chat families if you're not familiar with Microsoft teams there should be a button in the top right-hand corner of your screen if you're on a laptop that looks like a little speech bubble if you click that speech bubble you'll see our meeting chat and you also see the link to the log on instructions if you want to access this document later and you know you lose the link you don't have it these instructions are also available on our FUSD website under the four student stabbed you there's a section that says log on support for students and if you click that you'll see this document there as well awesome that's great it's a great resource to have so hopefully then that okay great so if I do look out, but I just wanted to make sure we're getting more questions okay to bring this is how the student would connect to a tutor so in the upper right hand corner of that gray box you'll see a little pull them Anita says English at the student wanted to access to drop, espanol they can click espanol from that pull-down menu and it would change to Spanish but no matter which language this was way to start a session works the same way so they're going to select the topic so it could be Elementary K through five or it could be math and then a subject could be a science or topic could be Sciences subject could be chemistry or subject could be earth science for example right so there are lots of choices so you just basically lessen the topic in the subject that you want to work on as the great the great that they're in let us know how do you want to work with the shooter if that is by chat that type chatting only or the chat plus the voice connection and if the student decides even while they're in session that they want to add the voice connection they can certainly do that even from within the session as well so they let you know this just gives us the information that we need to match the student to the right tutor and so then they're going to let us know what they want to work on and they could attach a file if it was relevant to the assignment and then like the green connect now but in a month they do that we have a brief wait usually a minute or so and they're in the online classroom with their tutor so once that happens this isn't it sample of what are online classroom looks like there's a two-way whiteboard so whatever the tutor draws the students he's whatever the student draws to Darcy's their type chatting back and forth you'll see in that on the right hand side of the screen there's that type chat box and there is a blue audio options button that has like a little microphone picture if they wanted to add the speaking and listening connection they could do that from Quicken that that button right there there's an interactive whiteboard so there are you now whiteboard tools that are available here you can type on the Whiteboard draw on the Whiteboard change your colors at you know shapes pictures share files there you can change the thickness of your lines the background of the Whiteboard can look like rats paper if needed it could look like lined notebook paper if needed was a very flexible platform I'm a very flexible way to collaborate their I'm also if the student is reviewing their session they're going to be able to replay it like a movie that can see it again and this gives you a picture of what it looks like there all right so we also have the ability to do an essay drop off so if the student click submit a paper for review they get a questionnaire so this is an option for students who can always have an on-demand writing session 5 in real time with the tutor I'll bet this is an option for essay writing so if the student would like to answer some questions about their assignments and send it off and have the trader review it and bring in said that comments on their page again to yours not making changes on the paper of it making comments on the paper send it back the students can choose that option to and so they're going to answer a question are answering in a lot of letting us know what they want the children to focus on so letting us know what type of assignment what grade level they're in what they're what their citation format is if they're using one you know what the topic of the paper where they are in the writing process this type of questions are going to answer those there can she's a file to attach that is like a task to get to an email or something and then they send it off and they're cheaters going to review it and return it with a feedback for him which looks kind of like this so there's a rubric that is a place where the tutor will give additional feedback at Best Buy somewhere they are in the writing process so that when the student gets this back they're going to get the procession details of that questionnaire that they filled out to begin with they're going to get a copy of the original document the date submitted the review document with the teeth with the Tudors comments on it as well as the summary feedback form as a secession transcript for this type of a session that's one option for students to use when it comes to essay writing and this could be writing for any class that doesn't have to administer English language arts class it can be for any class requires writing if it's a history paper you know but that's that's fine to you sooner. Calm writing help for that too so I'll just gives an example of what it would look like in a live on demand writing session if a file was shared so like this might be I say and you can see that the tutors will use that comments feature the two dozen not going to make changes but they're going to use that feature to give feedback to the students at the end of it on demand writing session the student gets the file back with a tutor, on it so they can then apply those comments and no matter what they use the drop-off option or the on demand writing option the students can take the feedback from the tutor applied to their paper and then either submitted for another review or turn it into their teacher whatever the case may be alright other resources gifted students like to work on the schedule they can schedule a tutoring session is not required to be able to access to your.com tutors what do students do you prefer work this way some to this day I want to schedule my session for next Tuesday at 3 and that is perfectly fine students can use that feature to schedule with a tutor that they choose there's information about the tutors you can see you know they almost have like I do have a star rate from other reviews from other students there's that they click on the tutors bio there they can see a little bit more about them and when they're available so they can sort the available to their subject if they want to schedule a tutor it connects with the favorite shooter or if they if they choose to do that again not necessary to use tutor.com so many on demand sessions are delivered and I personally think that's the beauty of tutor.com is that it's available whenever the students need it right right then right there on a Saturday afternoon at 3:20 p.m. when you're writing an essay and you need someone to help you with it, is there you don't have to make an appointment and you don't have to wait all right so we have other resources there are some diagnostic quizzes student can choose to take if they want to brush up on skills again just a nice to have in the in the account but not necessary to youtube.com there are some other tools there so there's helpful is Drexel videos on the English and math topics there are some there are also at sat act essential so from the Princeton Review so for those of you with older students who are you know preparing to take the SAT or the act in order to get into college there is a prep course for each one of those tests from the Princeton Review available in your child's tutor.com account I'll have some Foundation either kind of like Khan Academy type videos if you want to make a comparison for a strong foundation in math and English skills are also available with a child's tutor.com account within the child's account and cheer.com you have all of the above and you'll see you know even from can review all their previous sessions play them back like a movie check out the transcripts get files that were shared during session go back and replay the session they can email that transcript somewhere to a parent to a teacher they can ask that question again they could tag that tutor as a favorite tutor that way if that's the student works with one of our tutors really likes that tutor wants to work that tutor again and they add that to the list of favorites then they can be made aware next time I log in if the one of their favorites is available and I'll be given an approximate weight time and they can choose to wait for one of their favorite organ in mind for the first available tutor after every session is do this given an option to fill out a survey let us know what they thought let us know what they think about you too, but they thought about their tuner the online classroom if they recommend this service to a friend now that is High Praise indeed if you think about the fact that were online academic support right this is not something fun to do this can CO2 on the internet this is academic support this is homework help and studying help and get papers reviewed and doing a help it help with assignment ClassDojo if they're willing to recommend to your. Come to a friend we can still do that very high praise indeed and they're glad they have access to the service and the service is helping them, is helping them to complete homework assignments and prove Gray be more confident about their school work is a place first objective feedback we do read these comments and we send them to the district as well so that they can know what the students were saying about to your. Calm and there is an option for them to add that tutor that but if that's no just had to a list of favorite tutors what's things going on there in the survey was important to remember that one size does not fit all with a students and teacher. Calm can help do you know across that run the gamut the full spectrum Billy's right so if you have this can vary from subject to subject of course but if you have a struggling student who might not be as willing to seek out resources for him or herself might use to. Combat if you have to but we can help those students as well we make a lot of games with our middle-of-the-road students so those students who are you have a solid C students are made they might occasionally extra help if they feel particularly motivated to do it they're trying to keep from killing an assignment they might do something like that if we can make really good games with the students because once students use 22.com once they tend to want to come back and use it again what they really understand that this is not tutoring in the sense that they have to go do extra work in have to you know wait till next Tuesday to get some help they can they decide that this might be something they could use to really help them cuz they're going to start to see great Improvement really quickly if there are no using tutor.com in a way that uses maybe something that they didn't do as well on a quiz and they want to practice before the next test that would be a way that those students can really see great gains using 24 and then of course your Hyatt evening students we talked about this a little bit earlier you know keeping those grades great using the resources the students are more likely to use that without a whole lot of extra persuasion but they do recognize the value of it and they're going to be able to keep those they freaking to feel strongly supported and keep in his car great so I can help students at all skill levels not just for struggling students as we mentioned this sort of stigma about to you're not, sometimes from students perspective sometimes if they tutoring they think that's you know only for failing students or that something that's accepting defeat you know maybe think that it's their just okay with the fact that they're not so great a certain subject right I hear this all the time from my from my daughter I'm not I'm just not good at English I'm just better at math and science I'm just not good in English and I'm like oh you know it doesn't have to be that way if so perhaps they don't think that they have time perhaps they think that they are you know they're too busy get help then that just leaves to them for the stopping their assignments and not really. Maybe waiting for the next day or the stuff for my daughter also while you know I'll just I'll just wait tomorrow but then what happens is up showing up to class without her homework. without being really prepared to move on to the next thing the next day they said help keep her you know engaged and help keep her questions answered and her on track with her keeping her assignments complete yes you can use figure out come to help her that way I just might not remember how to get to it they might not remember that they need it or what it is the best way to engage students is to have them use it once you know and sometimes it takes a parent or a teacher bringing that horse to the water right and then just having them sit down login sit down with them say I'm going to check this out can you can you log into your chili or sooner. Call me countless login together and see what this is all about and sometimes it takes that sort of experience for the first time with your email you're going to you're going to know what's going to work best for your child that had to get I had to get your child connected usually once they get to the point though of asking a question of the tutor and getting connected to the online a minute or two they start to engage their normally they're used to using the tools they used to type setting they sent text messages 100 times a day so they're used to that type chatting are used to that type of communication but it's getting them to accept that dot-com is something that's going to help them it's not extra work is something's going to help them with the work that they're already doing is as a great first step in getting them engaged and also think about the success so I started off with a quote or going to end listen student quotes to listen think about the things that students have told us countless times over over the course of the last 21 plus million sessions and more than that number of years you know it helps during this difficult time because I know I'm struggling not being able to go to school or even go to school all the time so if they're students that are still quarantine or students that still can't attend their classes you know in person this is still a resource for those amazing service help me with what I could not figure out let me work it out then told me what I did wrong and then explained it to me in a perfect manner so this is a one shooter working with one student on their specific questions helping them in a very individual Bestway the tutor was great and it was always there to make sure I understood the problem overall a great experience that has helped me be a better student I didn't know how to solve it before but now I understand and now I think I'm ready for the quiz tomorrow that's very that's music to my to my mom in years I love it it really helps me understand the concept and help me in school work I am grateful for you guys help it was great my math grade was declining my counselor suggested this and this tutor helped me understand the quadratic formula so just some quotes from students just some food for thought to think about getting students connected back survey I wanted to one more time that's how students access documents so we can remember going into clever fust clever portal login there with email address and password that was provided by your District then click to calm and then you're going to wait just a few seconds and then just go ahead and enter your information connect to a tutor and get started alright so while I put up the survey slide I'm going to yes I'm going to switch over all right Marisol if you had some questions would you like would you like to meet your mic and a questions or would you like to put them in the chat hi I have a question is the beginning of the meeting but the district is going to send a paper so we can fill it out and get the the the sign-in or or they took the kids they just can go login I don't understand do it to log into tutor.com the student have to login to clever okay can you see screen still okay so there's a document and that document with shared right above and the chat where it says log on instructions for fillmoreusd students this is the same document that the document that's like there's the same document we're looking at here is got your access instructions so basically this to just go and too clever and they're going to login with the email address and the password that they have from the district and then they're going to click sugar.com and do their goal wait a few seconds and go over to you. Cam says connect with the shooters is there a limit on how much tutoring sessions they can take week.com there's no limit that students can use this as often as they need it they need to get the help that they need so I'll give myself in his example here so I've mentioned earlier in the presentation I did not well in chemistry when I was in high school if I had had access to tutor.com when I was taking chemistry I would have used it to not come at least once a day right and it would have been appropriate for me because I needed the help today and that is perfectly fine if the student needs use speaker. Calm once a week or once a month or once a day the service is available for them there hi Karen hi Tara hello everyone I'm Cynthia for those I am the assistant what kind of Educational Services we are so pleased that this product is coming to all of you families just to answer the question that one of the parents had earlier Monday so if you go into your child's laptop it's automatically an icon in your laptop you can see where it says calm your child can login but Cara thank you so much for this wonderful presentation and Kelsey make wanted to let you know what a great job I'm so happy that you presented you help facilitate just for tonight so that our families can see what are e-services with the services are that Educational Services is providing two families were here to help everyone help your child and we know especially with some of those tough courses like math and science English anything you know this is a service that's free for everyone 24/7 as Tara just explain one item I did want to say part of the feedback that I've been looking at throughout the day one person a student even said I love my tutor from tutor.com so again it's just the great interaction and we're really pleased that everyone has been utilizing a lot of students have been accessing the service so thank you everyone and I apologize my camera is off because the camera I'm having technical issues right now I apologize for that well Cynthia about 10 minutes before we were we were supposed to start this presentation my PowerPoint like Microsoft PowerPoint crashed on my computer and I was like oh do technical difficulties thankfully it everything's working okay so I did my my standard text supports move and when in doubt reboot it really clear here tonight I'm happy to stand up if there's more questions start asking for parents ask more questions Nicholas if you are if you are speaking to us your question you might just want to hit that button on your mic so we can hear you are you can type it in the chat too mascara it looks like we have a couple questions in the chat if you scroll up a little bit ruling okay so my soul says for reading comprehension sooner. provide passages or does the student bring a book or chapter to read the student is going to bring some material to work on and it can be very general but that's what we are going to be looking for the student they're going to because they're remodeling the session after what the suit these are going to be looking to the students at least give them a direction about what they want to work on that's not to say they can't provide examples of certain things because they certainly can but if the student has something that they are needing to work on they can they can bring that into the session oh I snuck sorry I didn't hear my son is in the middle area when he does math the problem is explained to him and then he forgets when the problem is presented differently can he get practice problems from do not come to help make sure he gets the help needed to fully understand the problem directions to go so if the student bring at least one sample problem for something that they're working on that will give this the tutor some idea of what they can do to provide additional examples if needed or just use that one example to work through for that session and Cara I apologize if you've already addressed this one but there was a question about how long sessions can last can students be with the tutor for 30 minutes or does it need to be less than 30 minutes the session we're going to last it just there is no set time limit for the sessions the sessions will last as long as it takes for the students to demonstrate that said that he or she has an understanding of what they brought to the session in the first place at with the you know whatever they need help with we're going to make sure that get help with that and then the session will end so sessions can be so short that sessions can be really long I see sessions go over an hour I've seen sessions go you know 10 or 15 minutes or a session like that was about 25 minutes or so but there's no stop time okay Kelsey are there any other questions done missing I do not see any other questions but it looks like there's somebody typing and then Nicholas still has the hand up but I think that one yeah I think so too but if it's not go ahead and eat your microphone necklace or type your question into the chat I just want to plug one more time folks if you are still here with us tonight it would be very helpful if you would please take the time to fill out art are extremely short 6 question survey to help us improve our services for Fillmore Unified School District families we really want to make sure that when we hold these kinds of workshops they're helpful in meaningful so I put the link to the survey in the chat for this meeting or you can also scan the QR code that Kara has up on the screen or copy down that link that she used to explain to get to keep back survey if you would take the time to respond I would really appreciate that because it's like I said it helps us better serve you okay the question would students be able to work on a page of homework example if the student has a full page or two of math work they didn't understand what the tutor be able to work on those pages so what the tutor will do instead of working on in a tire sheets of homework they're going to work the student through step-by-step using one or two of those problems as examples and so by the Remember by the time I cheated, it is over they have the students demonstrated that they have an understanding of how to work of that same type and so what the tutor would do is ensure the student had an understanding and then let them work a few on their own and then they can always come back if they need additional help or help with an additional type of problem absolutely all right ladies and gentlemen are there any last questions about tutor.com the service if you have a crush please don't hesitate to unmute yourself or you can of course type it in the chat but we are nearing the end of our time together so I just wanted to make sure if there's any lingering questions it you don't be shy this is a great opportunity with their expert care here to help us understand the service I don't see any more questions coming through Cara thank you so much for being here tonight everybody for joining us to learn about this incredible tool that we now have for our students that were so excited about if you can and read your student to try a session if they're a little hesitant maybe sit with them for the very first one but once they try it we're really hoping that students fill no excited to utilize this to get over those those hurdles of Fusion that sometimes come up in our natural and I'll part of school so thank you so much everybody if you have a chance to fill out that feedback survey would really appreciate it and Cara thank you so much for leaving your expertise tonight my absolute pleasure and I'm looking forward to seeing what your students do calm will be watching thank you Fiber One
